Facilitating Reading Comprehension

I chose an online source from ReadingRockets.org called "How to Teach Expository Text Structure to Facilitate Reading Comprehension." I liked this article because it explains what Expository text is and then lists ways to teach it. I like that the strategies listed are specific and detailed so that you can understand how to execute the strategies and why they facilitate comprehension. The article also includes graphic organizer examples that support the strategies discussed. Comprehension is the point of reading so it is important that teachers are formating lessons to scaffold comprehension understanding because texts will just get harder and harder. It is always important to start early so this source is great for teachers to apply and adaptive with many different age levels!
