I chose this article because I thought that it was very interesting reading about how John Dewey was able to establish his philosophy on education. This article does a great job distinguishing the difference between traditional education and progressive education. Progressive education is the thought process that children learn and develop through experiences that have happened in the past, while traditional education is the type of education that involves standards and content based activities. These types of educational ideas helped him develop what is called experiential education, which is the principle that education is based upon experience that each student has had over his or her lifetime.
