How do Children Learn to Read?

How do Children Learn to Read?

For my source I chose an online article with the title: “How do children Learn to Read?”
I believe that this source presents an interesting and good introduction into how children acquire the skill of reading and how difficult it is for them.
One very interesting fact in this source for me was that if children don’t have a model for language in early childhood, they will have trouble learning language and might also have trouble with language continuously through their lifetime. This is especially important to me because I am an early childhood education major and therefore plan to work at the age group in which having a model is very important for language development and reading has to be actively taught.
The article also introduces that there actually is a difference between learning spoken language and written language.
Another aspect of this source that I really like is that it shortly introduces how Maria Montessori observed children’s writing development.
